Andy unveiled today its 2019 in-house scholarship program finalists

shutterstock_756314371Montreal, September 18, 2019 – September is upon us and we all know what that means: Canadian youth are preparing to head back to school. Whether entering a new grade or a new school, September is a stressful time of year for all students.

Launched in May this year, the objective of Andy’s in-house scholarship program is to support the children of its eligible personnel in their desire to succeed in cegep, university or vocational school.

“This year we received a great number of impressive applications and we would like to thank each and every applicant. The names and the identification of all applicants were hidden and a carefully defined evaluation grid was distributed to the evaluation committee composed of 3 members. After a thorough analysis of the applications, taking into account all aspects of a student’s life including academic, athletic activities, work and community involvement, two students caught the eyes of the evaluation committee: Antonela Badan and Aleksandra Mircheva. We are proud to announce that they are the two winners of this year’s program and will be awarded a $1,500 each to ease their transition into the next chapter of their lives”, announced Anastasia Craciun, Director of Human Resources at Andy.

Both Antonela and Aleksandra have well-earned reputations as exceptional and determined students as well as community minded ambassadors. We are proud to highlight their accomplishments and support them in their journey.

Antonela is a full-time student, with outstanding results at the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University. She is the ambassador for the McGill Dentistry Gives Back fundraising program and her involvement in the community since an early age has helped make a difference into the lives of those vulnerable. She participated in charitable dental missions in Jamaica and she helped stranded African refugees in Italy. She dreams of having her own private practice once she graduates while also working in a hospital on unique cases. Academic prowess, substantial volunteerism and participation in community groups made this application shine.

Aleksandra is currently enrolled in the Optometry program at Université de Montréal and she holds a position as a consultant in a clinic. She is a member of the UdeM Interfaculty Students’ Board and was part of several committees during her time in cegep. Her ambition revolves around opening her own clinic one day and dedicating her time and knowledge to teaching the next generation of optometrists. Her exceptional academic drive as well as her service to the community made her a perfect fit for our program.

“We’re thrilled to continue to give back to the industry, and more particularly to our team by investing in the future of our children. It’s gratifying to see the exceptional applications that the candidates have presented and we have no doubt they will all succeed in whatever venture they put their minds to”, said Andreea Crisan, Andy’s EVP and COO.
